Soulfood | Look back for what?!

Happy Saturday ! Hope all is well : )

Recently I’ve been thinking about how important it is to FOCUS!  No, I don’t know if you understand — FOCUS-ing to the point where you become an unwavering staff concerning whatever you are seeking to accomplish! Whether you have a business or you are trying to lose weight; [Or just getting through a final semester] lol — {That one was for me.} Without FOCUS and looking forward to the good that awaits, it’s impossible to Succeed! Do you agree?

Think about it though — In the Bible when Peter had all of his focus on Jesus, he was able to ‘fricken’ walk on water [ Matthew 14:22-33 ] ! LIKE WALK ON WATER! As soon as he began to “look back” which in this case I’m using interchangeably with DOUBT he began to sink. In another bible reference [ Genesis 19 ], God told a man of God by the name of Lot that he would rain sulfur on the town of Sodom and Gomorrah where him and his family lived. The instructions the angels gave Lot were very clear. He suggested that he should take his family and flee the land that was to be destroyed — and more importantly to ‘NOT LOOK BACK’ at any point. Lots wife, sadly, didn’t follow the instruction. She looked back and became a pillar of salt.

You see ….  sometimes God is trying to bring us to a better place; one where we will be safe and sound from our troubles, worries, and fears — but we keep looking back.GUILTY! All this does is re-enforce that we are holding on to a portion of doubt, which contradicts the ability to have faith. Whether your doubt is big or small – it causes the time it will take us to reach the destination God has in mind for us — to become extended. Whether we look back for a moment or a few, in that instance; we become frozen, idle, stagnant, unproductive — Like Lot’s wife.

In Philippians 3:12-13 Apostle Paul says –

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,

So as we are pressing towards our goals; whether they be spiritual goals, career goals, health and wellness goals; Let’s develop a FORWARD ONLY mindset. Change isn’t easy and we are oftentimes fearful of what may be ahead, but if we press FORWARD ONLY — We are sure arrive at our dreams!
